I don't think Facebook can do without mods entirely. Maybe they don't have enough mods or strict enough rules. I honestly don't know.

But Facebook has a more user-curated thread, whereas HN is public. In a sense, I am my own mod on FB.

FWIW...I definitely don't use FB on a regular basis. Haven't since Oct 2017.
