This is my interpretation of events, and maybe I’m off base. PG used to comment often. Around 2010-11, there was a months-long crisis of sorts over the perceived declining quality of discourse here. PG was actively involved in trying to mitigate. Afterwards he all but disappeared. I took this as tacitly washing his hands of it.
