Article and linked proposal really just don't even attempt to tackle the privacy implications of all this. People don't like that WhatsApp knows your _metadata_, but we're supposed to be good with anyone being able to bring all the metadata of their entire social network to any random provider? How do you make such an argument in 2021, the year "privacy" went mainstream?
