For MOST of your gaming needs: https://www.protondb.com/ Valve's done a LOT of good for moving the ball on Windows things just working (mostly) on Linux. Usually it's some form of DRM or video playback that doesn't work... for obvious reasons.

By letting game devs ignore GNU/Linux, as Proton does the job, and they have better things to do, like targeting Android.

Except most games don't work perfectly on all Linux machines, so they are ignoring it to Linux users' detriment
